Peterson Urges Farm Bill Action

On January 3, I sent letters to House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor seeking a commitment to bring a farm bill to the floor of the House during the 113th Congress. Republican Leadership repeatedly refused to consider the House Agriculture Committee’s bipartisan five-year farm bill last year. Without assurances from Leadership, I do not see any reason for the House Agriculture Committee to again go through the process of writing a new five-year farm bill.
