MOORHEAD TO RECEIVE FUNDING TOMORROW
FOR 34TH STREET CORRIDOR PROJECT

MOORHEAD, MN - Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) announced today that the Minnesota Department of Transportation (DoT) has informed him that $874,996 will be transferred to Moorhead for the 34th Street Corridor project tomorrow.

"We were lucky to get this accomplished because other highway demonstration projects weren't allowed to receive funding this Congress," Peterson said. "However, we were able to persuade Congress to take leftover Minnesota highway project money and transfer it to this project in Moorhead.

"This project consists of building an overpass across the Burlington Northern railroad tracks in Moorhead, thus eliminating a projected 650,000 auto/rail conflicts each day," Peterson said. "That can only mean good things for traffic congestion, and it is anticipated that business and industry activities will also benefit from this overpass."

The funding for the 34th Street Corridor project was approved in the FY1997 Transportation Appropriations conference bill.
