CONGRESSMAN PETERSON NAMED
CO-LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR BY SAFARI CLUB

WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) has been named Safari Club International’s Co-Legislator of the Year for his steadfast efforts dealing with the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP).

“I am honored to have been selected for this recognition by the Safari Club,” Peterson said. “Everything I put in to the reauthorization of the CRP program was done for the hunters and fishers, but it is still very nice to be told that the work was appreciated.

“This was not an easy fight this year,” Peterson continued. “The battle started in subcommittee, and lasted even after the Farm Bill was signed into law.

“And we still haven’t won on everything,” Peterson added. “We are continuing to work with the wildlife community and others to try and get some changes made in the proposed criteria for CRP sign-ups.

“I believe that CRP is an important environmental and conservation tool, and I plan on doing everything I can to continue trying to protect it.”

Sharing the Co-Legislator of the Year award with Peterson is Representative Don Young (R-AK). They will receive the award during a ceremony in January at Safari Club International’s 25th Annual Convention.
