WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) today was named to the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
“There was a temporary opening on the committee, and ranking minority member Sonny Montgomery (MS) asked me if I would fill it,” Peterson said. “I am honored and pleased that the House chose me to fill the vacancy.”
Congressman Montgomery welcomed Peterson to the committee. “I am very pleased to welcome Collin Peterson to the Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. A member who works as hard as Collin and cares as much about veterans as he does is the kind of member we need on the committee.”
“Since Tim Penny left Congress, we haven’t had a seat on the committee,” Peterson said. “Veterans in the state will now have voice speaking out for them,” Peterson said.
“As a member of this committee, I will be able to follow closely the progress of the Fergus Falls nursing home, and the administration’s proposed reorganization of the Veterans Administration Hospital System.” Peterson concluded
