WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) announced today that over 85 percent of the Minnesota acres that were offered in the 16th signup of the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) have been accepted.
"I have been working hard to fix many of the problems with the recent CRP signups, and I am pleased to see that some of those efforts have paid off," Peterson said. "There is still more that can be done to improve this program, but this is good news for Minnesota.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture released the 16th signup information today. Over 450,000 acres in Minnesota were accepted. Land owners who offered bids should receive notice soon.
"The national acceptance rate for this signup was only 62 percent," Peterson continued. "Hopefully, this is an indication that we are on the upswing of improving CRP for Minnesota."
