WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) announced that the House today passed legislation to provide $1,000,000 for the 3rd Street North (CSAH 81) project in the city of Waite Park.
"This money will be used for the right-of-way cost to accommodate the improvement of 3rd Street North," Peterson said. "This is the kind of assistance I like to see our Federal government providing for the people back home."
Because of a drafting error in the initial transportation legislation passed earlier, this funding was attached to the Internal Revenue Service Restructuring and Reform Act.
"I didn't think this would be this hard, but the Senate had a problem with the first bill that contained this money," Peterson said. "and so we had to be creative to get this done. I'm certain that the Senate will pass this bill too, and that the President will sign it into law."
