Congressman Peterson to attend annual Canadian-U.S. Interparliamentary Group Meeting

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) will attend the yearly Canadian-U.S. Interparliamentary Group Meeting this weekend.

"This will be an important opportunity for me to make sure that issues that are important to Minnesotans are being heard by the Canadian Parliament," Peterson said. "I've attended this annual meeting for many years now, and both sides always learn a lot, however I feel like this year's meeting is even more crucial for our area.

"There are continuing trade issues that I plan to discuss with my Canadian colleagues including grain and dairy," Peterson said. "I also hope to raise the issues of improving remote border crossings.

"Finally, I hope to address our ongoing efforts to work the Ontario and the Federal Canadian Government to improve relations with the Northwest Angle."

The meeting, which is held alternately in the United States and Canada, is being held in Nantucket in May.
