WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) said today that he expects the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to release a proposed rule on reforming the dairy pricing system tomorrow morning.
"The USDA proposed rule has the potential to have enormous impact on the future livelihoods of Minnesota dairy farmers," said Peterson. "The proposal comes as a result of the 1996 Farm Bill, which called for USDA to reform the outdated milk marketing order system."
Peterson, the Ranking Minority member of the Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry Subcommittee, was actively involved in making sure that this call for reform of the dairy pricing system was included in the Farm Bill.
