WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) announced today that Toni Merdan, his Senior Economic Development Officer, has received certification as a Housing Development Finance Professional (HDFP) from the National Development Council (NDC).
"Toni is an integral part of my team, and I am very pleased to announce this certification," Peterson said. "When I was first elected, one of the biggest problems facing the 7th District was a lack of jobs in some parts of the district. With Toni's help, we've changed that. Now there aren't enough people to fill all the jobs in the district, and one reason we can't fill those jobs is because of a lack of available housing.
"With this new training Toni has received, she will be able to better help us respond to the changing needs of the 7th District," Peterson concluded.
HDFP certification is given to individuals who successfully complete an intensive housing development finance training series conducted by NDC. The courses provide training in single-family home ownership finance, multi-family housing development finance, housing development finance and deal structuring, and the creation and implementation of development programs.
