WASHINGTON, DC –Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) yesterday was joined by Minnesota State Representative Jim Tunheim in Washington to push for disaster assistance for the farmers in Northwest Minnesota.
"We must do everything we can to let the other Members of the House know how important this disaster assistance is," Peterson said. "It is vital that we deal with this head on, and Representative Tunheim has done a great job helping to explain the grave conditions farmers are struggling with back home."
Peterson and Tunheim spent the day trying to push Congress and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to grant assistance for the farm crisis in Northwest Minnesota.
"I have tried to bring the message of farm relief to Washington during the past two days," Tunheim said. "With Congressman Peterson's help, I am encouraged that Congress more fully understands the farm crisis that is underway in Northwest Minnesota."
