WASHINGTON, DC Recently my office has received hundreds of emails and letters regarding two rumored pieces of legislation. The first would supposedly allow phone companies to charge per minute internet access charges. The second bill, commonly known as "Bill 602P" would permit the Postal Service to charge $.05 per email. The rumors circulating the internet are completely FALSE.
Both the Federal Communications Commission and the Postal Service has addressed these issues and each has ruled that they will not allow these additional charges. I support the FCC's and Postal Services' position, and I will OPPOSE any legislation allowing per e-mail or per minute charges if it is ever introduced.
