PETERSON TO SPONSOR
TELECOMMUNICATIONS WORKSHOPS

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) -- Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-MN 7th District) announced today that he is sponsoring a three-hour workshop in four locations in the 7^th Congressional District.

“With the internet as its central nervous system, today’s global economy is expanding at light speed”, Peterson said. “To survive, our communities should be equipped to handle this new age, and must understand the terminology and trends of this industry.”

This workshop is designed as a primer to assist community leaders, economic developers, local elected officials, business owners and others on the terminology and current trends in the telecommunications industry. Each location will also (1) highlight local representatives from various industries speaking about availability of telecommunications technical assistance; and (2) Update on state and federal telecommunications legislation.

“I am pleased to announce that Bruce Brorson, Senior Technology Associate and Steven Hannah, Internet Systems Administrator of the Red River Trade Council, Inc. and the University of Minnesota, Crookston will be the key-note presenters.”

Workshops will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.. Dates and locations are as follows:

Wednesday, April 12, 2000 – Fergus Falls, Minnesota – Fergus Falls Community College, Library Building – Room #L102 – parking passes will be available
Thursday, April 13, 2000 – St. Cloud, Minnesota – Resource Training and Solutions offices located at 4150 2^nd Street South, Suite 550
Tuesday, April 18, 2000 – Crookston, Minnesota – Northland Inn, Hwy. 2 West
Thursday, April 20, 2000 – Bemidji, Minnesota – Paul Bunyan Rural Telephone Cooperative conference room, 1831 Ann Street NW
