Jobs saved at Fosston MDV plant

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Rep. Collin Peterson announced that 59 jobs will be saved, and 25 new jobs will be created over the next five years at the Minnesota Dehydrated Vegetable plant in Fosston as a result of a grant from the federal government.

The city was awarded $983,200 from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration for the City of Fosston to construct an anaerobic methane digestion wastewater pretreatment system in its industrial park. The system will benefit MDV and can potentially serve food processing and other industries in the park.

“I couldn’t be more pleased for the employees of MDV and the people of the region,” Peterson said. “Mayor Arvid Clementson, City Clerk Chuck Lucken, the Fosston City Council, and the Northwest Regional Development Commission all deserve credit for their hard work on this project.”

The total cost for the project is $1.7 million, with the balance being paid for by other state and federal funding sources, and by MDV. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2003.
