Peterson Nominates 11 Students To Military Academies

(Detroit Lakes, Minn) - U. S. Rep. Collin Peterson (D-7th District) is pleased to announce that he has nominated 11 Seventh District students as candidates for appointment to the military academies.

“We are fortunate to have such a fine selection of nominees vying for appointments to our military academies,” Peterson said. “These students are an example of the quality schools and great parents we have in this area.”

Peterson uses the open nomination process to nominate up to ten people for each opening the Seventh District has at the military academies. The ultimate decision about who receives an appointment is based on the needs of the academies for that year. In previous years, the academies have offered appointments to more than just one Seventh District student per academy.

The following are those who have been recommended for nomination to the academies:

Christopher Brill of Detroit Lakes, Naval Academy
Tyler Bredeson of Baudette, West Point and Naval Academy
Preston Gartner of Sauk Centre, Naval Academy and Air Force Academy
Flynn Murray of Moorhead, West Point
Jeffrey Olson of Sabin, West Point
Jayme Brower of Bemidji, West Point
Joseph Dinsmore of Fergus Falls, West Point
Kyle Zirbes of Parkers Prairie, Air Force Academy
Stephen Astrup of Dilworth, Air Force Academy
Christopher Cowger of East Grand Forks, Air Force Academy
Paul Cronk of Bangkok, Thailand, Air Force Academy and Naval Academy
