Field hearing to review crop insurance will be held in Ada

(WASHINGTON, DC) - A member of the House Agriculture Committee, U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn) will be hosting the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management at a field hearing on Tuesday, August 19 in Ada, Minnesota.

Peterson, U.S. Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) and other members of the subcommittee will be on hand to hear testimony from a variety of commodity groups and producers on the issues of crop insurance and commodity programs.

“Crop insurance reform has been a priority of mine since day one,” Peterson said. “I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to bring Members of Congress from all over the country to Ada where we can hear from producers and their organizations.”

Witnesses at the hearing will include Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Gene Hugoson, and representatives from various commodity groups. Also testifying will be John Germolus, past president of the National Association of Crop Insurance Agents, and Waubun farmer Dave Haugo.

The hearing will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Ada-Borup High School auditorium, and is free and open to the public.
