Moorhead awarded $1.72 million for Industrial Park expansion
(WASHINGTON, DC) - U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson announced that the City of Moorhead has been awarded $1.72 million towards the expansion of its industrial park by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.“Moorhead city leaders are to be commended for their work on this important project,” Peterson said. “This city's economic growth has been astounding over the past few years and an industrial park expansion is key to continuing that growth.”
The expansion will be around 122 acres and include about six large lots in the MCCARA Industrial Park in south Moorhead.
“Fantastic,” said Mayor Mark Voxland. “This is exactly what Moorhead needs to attract large businesses and distribution centers.
“Economic development is the cornerstone of Moorhead’s future, and receipt of this federal grant advances our economic development objectives immeasurably,” Voxland said.
We’ve had a lot of interest expressed for a new industrial space,” said Beth Grosen, Business Development Specialist for the City of Moorhead. “We anticipate that it will fill up quickly.”
Moorhead Economic Development Authority Chairman Ralph Hanson was pleased with the announcement of the grant as his board had earlier this week authorized the purchase of the industrial park expansion property under the EDA Board’s levy. “The use of our levy for the land purchase is a valuable investment in the future of Moorhead,” Hanson said.
The total cost for this project will be $3.7 million, with the city matching the remaining cost.
