Peterson secures $1 million in defense bill for Mattracks in Karlstad

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Congressman Collin Peterson (D-Minn) announced today that $1 million has been included in the Defense Appropriations Conference Report to support work being done for the U.S. military by MATTRACKS, Inc., located in Karlstad. This money will pay for operational testing of the “Track Conversion System” that MATTRACKS builds.

“We’ve known for years that this innovative product created and manufactured in Karlstad would be a great help to our nation’s military,” Peterson said. “MATTRACKS has had a lot of interest from all branches of the military and in particular from Special Operation Command.”

The Department of Defense is including "Track Conversion System" in its requirement language for its light wheeled Vehicles so that they’re equipped to change over to the tracks when needed. Special Operations Command has asked MATTRACKS to provide the solution for this requirement.

MATTRACKS Track Conversion System is an all-terrain, track conversion system that provides most 4x4 Light Wheeled Vehicles greater traction, floatation, and mobility than can be achieved with tires. As quickly as you can change tires (as little as 30 minutes), you can convert an ATV, Commercial Truck, SUV, or HMMWV (HUMVEE), into a true all-terrain vehicle. Having this option provides Military personnel the ability to travel in poor road or no-road conditions.

The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) is charged with overseeing the various Special Operations Commands (SOC) of each branch of the U.S. military for example they oversee the Navy SEALs, Army Rangers, Army Special Forces, Air Force Special Tactics. When Special Operations Forces of different branches are used for the same operation, USSOCOM acts as the Joint Command Center (JCC) of all the forces used in the operation.
