Detroit Lakes, Mahnomen County Airports Awarded FAA Grants

(WASHINGTON, DC) - U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson announced that the Detroit Lakes Airport-Wething Field has been awarded $97,000, and the Mahnomen County Airport has been awarded $484,500 through a Federal Aviation Administration grant program.

“These airports are critical links in our rural transportation infrastructure,” Peterson said. “I’m pleased that we were able to help secure funds for ongoing improvements and additions that are necessary to the safety and security of these facilities.”

The Detroit Lakes airport grant will be used to purchase a tractor with bucket and snow blower necessary for snow removal operations at the airport.

The Mahnomen County airport will use funds to purchase land needed for approach protection for an existing runway, and also will be used for construction of a turf runway.
