Red Lake Awarded EDA Funding for Sewer and Water

(Washington, DC) - U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn) announced that the Red Lake Nation has been awarded $1.5 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration.

The investment will help to fund the construction of the first phase of sewer treatment improvements on the lands of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa, meeting community needs and assuring the continued operation of tribal businesses, as well as enabling a new greenhouse and nursery business with 75 new jobs.

“Red Lake’s current infrastructure is very outdated and they’re not able to add more business without these upgrades,” Peterson said. “I congratulate the tribe on their hard work to make this project happen because this is extremely important for their future economic development.”
