WASHINGTON – Congressman Collin C. Peterson gave the following statement after the 2019 State of the Union Address:

“The President’s speech covered a number of areas that unite Americans like our role in liberating Europe in WWII, increasing our commitment to ending cancer, cutting prescription drug prices, and making investments in infrastructure that strengthen our country. It’s also no surprise that the passage of the farm bill is touted as an area where Congress has worked successfully on a bipartisan basis. As we look for a compromise to fund our government, I was encouraged that the President talked about listening to border patrol agents as decisions are made about how best to secure our border. Putting ideology aside and addressing the facts on the ground is the most straightforward path to getting the policy right that both sides can live with.”
